Romanian duo Ilinca and Alex Florea through to Saturday’s final on spot 20

Romania’s representatives Ilinca Bacila and Alex Florea will take the stage in Saturday’ Eurovision final, starting from spot 20.

Romania is one of the ten competing countries to have won a slot in the grand final of the European Song Competition after the second semifinal played out Thursday night.

The acts from both semifinals join the representatives of the so-called ‘Big Five’ – Italy, Spain, France, Germany and the UK – in Saturday’s show, plus host country Ukraine.

The artists’ playing order was suggested by the Ukrainian public television and approved by Jon Ola Sand – Executive Supervisor on behalf of the European Broadcasting Union, the official website of the event informs. Representatives of the finalist countries drew lots to decide whether they were to perform in the first or the second half of the final.

Ilinca Bacila and Alex Florea shared with AGERPRES their thoughts about their experience of the second semifinal.

“I, for one, had very strong emotions and took pains to keep them in control, but I’m glad that although we couldn’t hear the chanting from the hall, we felt the energy coming towards us and I can say it was the best on-stage sensation ever when we did the ‘yodel’ at the end and sensed the entire audience vibrating with us,” Ilinca said.

In his turn Alex Florea said he felt ready when he stepped into the spotlight in the second semifinal. “Emotions are gone, I was confident that our moment will be just right. I was very pleased with the last two rehearsals, I really had no emotions, knowing that everything turns out perfect,” Alex Florea said.

Ilinca and Alex Florea’s yodelling/rap song is called ‘Yodel It!’ and was composed and written by Mihai Alexandru and Alexandra Niculae
