On Monday, November 6, 2017, the Studio Hall of the National Theater of Bucharest hosted a concert of the famous Turkish quintet Golden Horn Brass. The concert was organized by the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Institute in cooperation with the Turkish Embassy in Bucharest, and was supported by Turkish Airlines and Anchor Group. Thus, Yunus Emre Institute celebrated 6 years of existence in Romania. Nine O’Clock was one of the media partners of the event.

The Director of Yunus Emre Institute, Mr. Tuna Balkan, and the Turkish Ambassador in Bucharest, H.E. Mr. Osman Koray Ertaș, spoke in the opening of the event.

“We continue to present our ancient and contemporary culture to the Romanian people with every event organized by the team of Yunus Emre Institute from Bucharest and Constanta. Through the event we organize, we understand once more how close the Turkish and Romanian people are, and how many common features they have. For instance, one of the members of the Golden Horn Brass, who will offer an unforgettable evening, is a Romanian citizen living in Turkey since many years”. In its turn, the Golden Horn Brass band has an anniversary year in 2017, too, this year being the 10th year of artistic activity. “It is the first quintet of its kind in Turkey. It’s the first Turkish band out of several brass bands who became famous abroad, and who became worthy to represent our country”. “The band’s repertoire consists of well-known classical music and jazz songs, and, the most important thing, of collages of Turkish popular songs” Tuna Balkan stated.

“As Evil continues to speak through more violence, more populism, we want to talk through culture, through dialogue and certainly through music, to reach to hearts and minds of the people. Today we are celebrating our 6th anniversary in Romania (of Yunus Emre e.n.) with the music, thanks to the lovely and dynamic artists who are coming from Turkey.” “I wish you a wonderful night through Turkish music”, stated H.E. Mr. Osman Koray Ertaș in his turn.

The members of the Turkish community who came at the concert, and not only them, enjoyed the musical moments offered by the Turkish quintet. The room echoed with applauses for the “golden sounds from Turkey”, famous songs from the international and popular Turkish repertoire being played.
