Nicu Vlad elected Vice President of International Weightlifting Federation

Starting on Wednesday, Nicu Vlad, the President of the Romanian Weightlifting Federation, has become Vice President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

Nicu Vlad (46 years old) was elected Vice President of the IWF during the world body’s congress, a congress that took place in Madrid.

Romania’s Dragomir Cioroslan, winner of the Bronze Medal during the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984, will also hold another one of the five IWF Vice President offices. Cioroslan has meanwhile become an American citizen. Of the 30 candidates, Hasan Akkus (Turkey), Salvatore Coffa (Australia) and Zygmunt Wasiela (Poland) were also elected Vice Presidents, while Taiwan’s Chao-Kuo Chang was elected First Vice-President. Hungary’s Tamas Ajan was re-elected President of the IWF, an office he has held since the year 2000.
