Flavius Koczi wins Silver Medal in vault event

Romanian gymnast Flavius Koczi, 22, has won Romania’s first medal in the European Championships in Milan. Koczi won the Silver Medal in the vault event, with only 0.013 points separating him from France’s Thomas Bouhail, the winner of the Gold Medal.

Flavius Koczi had two brilliant vaults and a smaller step when landing after the first vault would probably have given him the Gold. He scored an average of 16.312 in the vault event, being surpassed by France’s Bouhail with 16.325.Germany’s Matthias Fahrig won the Bronze with 16.225.

Romania’s Daniel Popescu scored 16.225 in the first vault and 15.600 in the second vault, registering an average of 15.912.
