202,500 passengers transported by Tarom in first two months of 2009

According to the data presented by the Association of European Airlines (AEA), in the first two months of the year Tarom has transported 202,500 passengers, a number that is 11.4 per cent lower than the one registered in the same period last year, Mediafax informs. In the first two months the company has covered an average of 47.2 per cent of its passenger capacity, 12.5 per cent lower than the level registered in January-February 2008, according to an AEA report.

In January Tarom has registered a number of 105,000 passengers, 18.9 per cent lower than the one registered in the same period in 2008. At the same time, the Romanian company has covered 49.2 per cent of its passenger capacity, down by 9.4 per cent.

At European level the airline companies have transported in the first two months more than 30.4 million passengers, down by 11.6 per cent, covering 59.3 per cent of their passenger capacity, down by 2 per cent.
The largest companies by number of transported passengers are Lufthansa, Air France and British Airways.
