Hydrologists issue yellow code warning on the Danube

The hydrologists have issued a yellow code warning on the Danube’s Gruia-Zimnicea sector. The warning will come into force today at 6 AM and will expire on April 15 at 4 PM. The Prefectures of Mehedinti, Dolj, Olt and Teleorman Counties received the warning, Mediafax informs. The hydrologists have issued yesterday the yellow code flood warning on the Danube’s Gruia-Zimnicea sector, estimating that the river levels would surpass the warning level by up to 20 centimeters, the National Institute for Hydrology and Water Management informs. The Ministry of Environment’s Operational Center for Emergency Situations has issued the warning for the Prefectures of Dolj, Mehedinti, Olt and Teleorman Counties. ‘The phenomenon consists of water level and discharge hikes on the Danube, hikes that will surpass the warning levels from April 7 to April 15, 2009,’ the aforementioned document reads. The water levels could surpass the warning levels by 5-20 centimeters in the Gruia-Zimnicea sector.
