The work “At the Fountain,” signed by the famous painter Stefan Luchian, will be auctioned by the Alis House on Saturday at the price of RON 95,000. The painting is an aquarelle from the collection previously owned by Ioan Nicolau and was presented in the “Review” exhibition of the Dalles Hall during March 4 – 31, 1939, organized by the Romanian Academy under the high patronage of King Carol II. The catalogue of the Alis House also includes other valuable paintings such as “Venice” by Nicolae Darascu, estimated at Ron 40,000, “Trouts in the Trough” by Octav Bancila and “Boat at the Quay,” each of them at RON 22,000, “Standing Nude,” by Eustatiu Stoenescu and “Bowl of Flowers” by Ion Theodorescu Sion, each of them evaluated at RON 20,000. Beside these, buyers may also find paintings by Kimon Loghi, Rudolf Schweitzer Cumpana, Constatin Artachino, Stefan Caltia and Victor Brauner, estimated from RON 4,500 to 8,000. A file of ten original etchings – “Creation” signed by Fred Micos will be auctioned at a starting price of RON 200. Book lovers may choose between 28 volumes, including a book of prayers: “Missel des saints evangiles” with gold decorations, at RON 250, “The Nicolae Tonitza Exhibition,” at RON 200 and the collection of the “Convorbiri literare” magazine for 1939, at RON 80.
