Boloni, on list of possible head coaches for Belgium
Romania’s Ladislau Boloni, the head coach of Standard Liege, is on the list of candidates for Belgium’s national football team following Tuesday’s sacking of head coach Rene Vandereycken. Belgium’s head coach was sacked because of the poor results that the ‘Red Devils’ registered, the Belgian press informs.
According to the Belgian dailies, Eric Gerets, the head coach of Olympique Marseille is a favourite contender, his contract with the club set to expire at the end of this season.
Adrian Mutu, 21st place in world’s best strikers table
Romanian football player Adrian Mutu ranks 21st in the table of the best strikers of the world, a table drawn by Germany’s ‘SportBild,’ Agerpres informs. The hierarchy is dominated by Argentina’s Lionel Messi, followed by his FC Barcelona team-mate and Cameroon national Samuel Eto’o. Spain’s David Villa (FC Valencia), the goal getter of the EURO 2008 tournament, ranks third. Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), nominated by FIFA the world’s best football player in 2008, ranks 5th after Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Inter Milan).
Radoi proves decisive for Al Hilal in AFC Champions League
Romanian football player Mirel Radoi scored the decisive goal in Al Hilal’s home-side victory against Al Ahli (United Arab Emirates) on Tuesday, score 2-1. The game counted for the third round of the AFC Champions League.
Ahmed Khalil put the visitors ahead in the 12th minute but Yasser Al Qahtani equalized for Al Hilal in the 32nd minute. Radoi converted a penalty kick in the 93rd minute after Al Qahtani was brought down in the box. This is Radoi’s second goal in the AFC Champions League.
