The Romanian national football team ranks 28th in FIFA’s table for April, a table published on Wednesday. This is Romania’s worst position in the last three years.
Romania has 792 points and has dropped eight places following its defeats at the hands of Serbia (2-3) and Austria (1-2) in the World Cup 2010 preliminaries. The last time Romania ranked lower than this was in February 2006 back when it ranked 30th.
France has climbed two positions and ranks 10th with 1,074 points, Serbia has climbed 15 places and ranks 23rd with 819 points, Lithuania (two games lost against France) has dropped five places and ranks 57th with 555 points, Austria climbed 10 places and now ranks 78th with 446 points, while the Faeroe Islands climbed 19 places and ranks 166th with 96 points.
The top three places remain unchanged, with Spain ranking first with 1,729 points, followed by Germany with 1,362 points and the Netherlands with 1,360 points.
