Last Wednesday, the Executive decided to recall five Riemann consults from Italy, Hungary, China and the Russian Federation, according to official sources quoted by Agerpres.
They are: Petre Litiu – Cosenza (Italy), Iuliu Aron Constantin – Szeghed (Hungary), Alexandru Grumaz – Shanghai (China), Ion Bistreanu – Sankt Petersburg (The Russian Federation) and Iulia Buje – Turin (Italy).
Previously, Buje had been invited back to Romania to explain a number of statements she had made about the Italian Interior Minister, Roberto Maroni. She said that, when he was an MP, Maroni had called the consulate several times, from 1998 to 2000, to help illegal Romanian workers in Italy.
Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu said afterwards that the accusation made by the Romanian consul in Turin had been ‘inappropriate.’
‘The statement made by my colleague, the General Consul in Turin, was inappropriate. One cannot say anything anytime, even if it is true,’ Diaconescu said. The Government decisions will be published in the Official Journal.
