Romania lacks a five-star university

‘The table of Romanian Universities’ integrity,’ a table compiled by the Coalition for Clean Universities, reveals the true ‘face’ of state universities in Romania. Thus, according to the ‘Evenimentul Zilei’ daily, the conclusion reached is that Romania lacks a five-star university. Six of the 42 state universities scrutinized have failed to score a single star, while three other universities tower above the others although failing to score the maximum points. The three universities are: the Medical and Pharmaceutical University in Targu-Mures, the ‘Iuliu Hateganu’ Medical and Pharmaceutical University in Cluj-Napoca and the ‘Alexandru Ioan Cuza’ University in Iasi. The Agronomy University in Bucharest and the Medical University in Bucharest are at the opposite end of the table. The ‘Carol Davila’ Medical and Pharmaceutical University in Bucharest is also part of the “shameful top,” having faced problems with plagiarism. The “mid-table” universities that have won 3 stars include: the Bucharest University, the Constanta Maritime University, the ‘Gheorghe Asachi’ Technical University in Iasi and the ‘Ion Mincu’ University of Architecture in Bucharest.
