The number of layoffs for the April-October period stands at 26,701, Mediafax informs. By Tuesday 349 companies from all over the country had sent notifications to the County Employment Agencies. According to the National Employment Agency, the number of notification has grown by 2,500 compared to the ones registered the previous week. The most numerous layoffs are announced in Bucharest (3,947), Arges (1,599), Prahova (1,580), Timis (1,477), Brasov (1,394), Bacau (1,073), Arad (1,066), Alba (999), Dambovita (986) and Cluj (964). Most of the 349 companies that will conduct layoffs are located in Bucharest (30), Arad (18), Timis (17), Arges (16), Cluj and Ilfov (15 each), Brasov (14), Prahova and Galati (13 each) and Alba (11). The industries and sectors that will experience most of the layoffs are the following: chemical substances and products industry (2,363), clothing industry (1,997), construction sector (1,521), oil and natural gas extraction sector (1,498), metallic products industry (1,313), automotive industry, NCA tools and equipments (1,266), textile products (1,169), car and road transportation vehicles (1,133), leather products (1,127) and education system (1,089).
