The three Romanian sailors who had been kidnapped on the Turkey-flagged ‘Titan’ boat by the Somali pirates on March 22, were released yesterday, the Foreign Ministry (MAE) reports in a press release quoted by Agerpres. The three Romanians are in a good state of health. According to the press release, MAE had been permanently in touch with the families of the Romanian crewmembers, with the ship owner involved in the negotiations and with the Greek authorities Three Romanian crewmembers were kidnapped by Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden, in March. Twenty-four people were on board the captured ship: Romanian, Filipinos, Greeks and Ukrainians. Pirate attacks have become more intense in the off the Somali coast in the last year. Millions of US Dollars have been paid in ransoms.
