21 persons, including eleven children, were hospitalized after the bus they were traveling by overturned. The accident occurred yesterday morning at the entrance to Bacau city.
According to Mediafax, the Ukrainian autobus had entered Romania on Wednesday evening and the driver has not had a break ever since. On yesterday morning, near the Bogdan Voda commune in Bacau County, the autobus overturned after it entered the opposite direction.
“The accident was caused by the driver’s exhaustion. He fell asleep and entered the opposite direction, and the vehicle left the highway and overturned,” Officer Narcisa Butnaru, the spokesperson of the Bacau County Police Department declared.
After the accident, 21 passengers were immediately carried to the Bacau County Hospital for supervision and examination, due to slight injuries. Yesterday, two persons remained in hospital as they had suffered traumatisms and fractures.
The 40 passengers where heading to Macedonia, in order to attend a folklore festival. Until the arrival of the bus assigned to pick them up, the passengers were provided accommodation in the hostel of a high school in Bacau.
