Mircea Sandu has distanced himself from the corruption row that has shaken the Romanian world of football, stating that it is not part of his prerogatives.
Mircea Sandu started ‘the war’ with the journalists when he warned them to stop involving him in this row because they are opinion makers.
The FRF President then gave an acid reply to Gica Popescu after the latter stated yesterday that the FRF’s entire leadership should resign. ‘Although I care a lot about Gica Popescu, I have to give him a reply. I don’t take advice from persons that are criminally prosecuted,’ Sandu stated. Sandu continued his volley of accusations by turning to Ion Craciunescu and picking on the manner in which he led the Central Referee Commission (CCA). ‘The same goes for Mr. Craciunescu. The CCA was led by a triumvirate. He promoted Stroe Gabriel and Coltescu Sebastian. Ten days later he decided to demote Stroe Gabriel. These are the kind of promotions that took place under Mr. Craciunescu’s leadership. I would never propose Craciunescu as CCA leader because I know the amount of disasters that he has done,’ Mircea Sandu added.
