Romanian Olympic champion Constantina Dita ranks 3rd in the women’s overall standings of the 2008-2009 World Marathon Majors series, a table compiled by the organizers of the major marathon races in the world (Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York, World Cup and Olympic Games). Dita has 30 points, being in a tie with Alevtina Biktimirova (Russia) and Salina Kosgei (Kenya). The table is topped by Irina Mikitenko (Germany) with 50 points and Dire Tune (Ehiopia) with 40 points.
The men’s table is topped by Samuel Wanjiru (Kenya) with 40 points, followed by Deriba Merga (Ethiopia) with 30 points, and Martin Lel (Kenya) with 26 points. The points are offered only to the athletes that finish the races in the top 5, in the following order: 25 points, 15 points, 10 points, 5 points, 1 point.
