Energy, Security on CSAT agenda

The Supreme Defence Council (CSAT) will meet today within the Cotroceni Palace, with the meeting set to be chaired by President Traian Basescu. The Council will update Romania’s energy strategy for 2007-2020, and will also discuss the Army’s short and medium term 2010-2015 acquisition plan. The CSAT members will also evaluate the state of security in regions with major terrorist potential other than the Middle East. The CSAT agenda will also include modifications brought to the framework-plan for the continuation of the Army’s restructuring and modernization process during the January 1 – December 31, 2009 period and the stage of drafting Romania’s defence industry strategy. A report on the fulfilment of the Romanian Army’s commitments towards NATO, the European Union and other international bodies will be presented from the point of view of the operational and interoperability levels. Romania’s participation in the drafting of the future European strategy on the development of the Danube region will also be discussed in the CSAT meeting.
