Iancu threatens to boycott Romanian Cup game against Dinamo

Daniel Marin Cernat, the President of the Disciplinary Commission, said Dinamo will play an empty stadium the next game that it will organize, namely its Romanian Cup game against FC Timisoara. The FC Timisoara officials are dissatisfied with the decision, threatening to boycott the game set to be played at Cluj-Napoca. ‘The regulations are very clear. Dinamo will play an empty stadium the next game that it organizes, with that game being the Cup game. The regulations do not point out whether the suspension comes into force in the team’s next home-side game,’ Cernat stated for Mediafax.

In reply, Marian Iancu, the President of FC Timisoara, stated for Mediafax that if the decision taken by the Federation’s Disciplinary Commission will be applied in the Romanian Cup semi-final and FC Timisoara’s fans will be unable to attend the game then the team coached by Gabi Balint is going to boycott the game.

‘The fact that the game will be played on an empty stadium is the Federation’s option. We will play with our fans present or we won’t play at all. Playing without the fans in the stands is out of the question. The game will be played on neutral grounds, the expenses are shared and so is the profit. This continues to be an anachronistic, confused Federation, with people that have nothing to do with the world of football, with people that never imparted justice as provisioned by documents. When Mircea Sandu realizes that he has created a monster he will leave. This monster is the social danger,’ Iancu said.

Dinamo Bucharest is to play one game on an empty stadium and will pay a RON 60,000 fine after the Romanian Football Federation’s Disciplinary Commission analyzed the incidents that occurred during the Dinamo vs. Rapid game counting for the Romanian Cup.

Dinamo vs. FC Timisoara, counting for Romanian Cup semi-finals, is scheduled on Tuesday at 8.45 PM at Cluj-Napoca.
