The Romanian National Bank Day was celebrated on Wednesday by the seventeenth edition of the “Cristian Popisteanu” Annual Symposium of Banking History and Civilization. This year’s subject was “From the History of the National Bank: Subsidiaries and Agencies.” The event represented an opportunity to pay homage to the activity of the employees of BNR subsidiaries and agencies, attended by the National Bank management and by specialists of the institution, representatives of the commercial banks, economical history researchers and guests from other Romanian cities.
On this occasion, the institution hosted the launch of the second volume of the work “The History of the Romanian National Bank (1915 – 1918),” launched by the Oscar Print Publishing House in Bucharest. The book was authored by Cristian Paunescu, Mihaela Tone and Nadia Manea. The entire event was closed by the ceremony of the annual awards offered by the Historical Magazine Cultural Foundation “for the most important contributions of the historical research for 2008.”
