Stela Popescu, crowned “Queen of Comedy” in Tel Aviv

Actress Stela Popescu was offered the title of “Queen of Comedy” by the Romanian – Israelite Cultural Centre in Tel Aviv after an outstanding performance, the musical “A Stormy Night,” performed during a tour in Israel by the Children’s Comical Opera in Bucharest – the website www.animanews.com announced on Friday. “It is wonderful to be received so warmly by the audience. It was a surprise.

We expected nothing of this. (…) I feel like home in Israel,” Stela Popescu declared in an interview for the Anima News Agency. The musical “A Stormy Night,” an adaptation by Smaranda Oteanu – Bunea after the play by I. L. Caragiale, featuring music by Roman Vlada, was a major surprise for the audience, according to the same source, due to the originality of the creation, of the scenery (Viorica Petrovici), of the choreography (Valentin Rosca) and most of all, due to the impressive talent of the cast.
