Black Sea cooperation programme launched in Bucharest

The Minister of Regional Development and Housing Vasile Blaga yesterday launched the Joint Operational Programme “Black Sea 2007-2013”, according to a press release from the ministry. The event was attended by several officials and potential beneficiaries of the ten countries involved in the programme: Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia. Representatives of the European Commission were also present. This is the first cooperation programme at the Black Sea, gathering both EU and non-EU members. Its total budget amounted to over EUR 18 M, Blaga said, expressing his hope that the programme will lead to lasting development in the region.

The global objective of the programme is to promote solid regional partnerships and to stimulate cooperation for the social and economic development of the countries in the Black Sea region.
