The multiple champion of gymnastics, Marian Dragulescu decided to return on the contest mattress. After a four-month break when he was a children coach at CS Dinamo club, the ‘Moroccan’ replaced in the Olympic team Cosmin Malita, who was forced to withdraw because of health problems, Adevarul newspaper announces.
He motivated the decision by his wish to return in activity, as well as by certain personal reasons. Very determined to overcome his health problems and the age (28), the ‘Moroccan’ already set a goal for this year: a medal in the London World Championships that will take place this fall. “I will compete in three contests and I hope I will get the podium in at least one of them,” said the gymnast, who is not afraid of the hard training he will have to sustain in order to recover the lost ground.
“I never stopped going to the gym, while coaching the children, so I don’t start from zero with my training. Even more, I have no weight problems and I did compete in Germany, in the Bundesliga’s jumping and floor contests,” Dragulescu explained. He made an easy return to training, but said he will step up his efforts gradually, so that to reach his physical peak for the London championships.
The coach of the gymnastics team, Nicusor Pascu, gladly received Marian’s decision to rejoin the team. “I and the whole team, and the federation too, agreed to this decision. Marian is an ambitious person, who will work hard to meet his goals,” the coach said, adding that the former champion already took his medical examination and is waiting for its results this week.
