The Romanian team will confront Sweden’s representatives in the play-off draw for the Group Stage of the Davis Cup, the drawing of lots held in London on Tuesday decided.
Among the teams attending the play-off draw, Sweden gained the highest position in the Davis Cup hierarchy (the 7th position) while Romania has reached the 19th position. The competitions are scheduled during September 18 – 20.
The results of the drawing of lots for the Group Stage play-offs are the following – the first teams are the hosts:
Chile – Austria
Belgium – Ukraine
Brazil – Ecuador
Holland – France
South Africa – India
Serbia – Uzbekistan
Sweden – Romania
Italy – Switzerland.
The winners will attend the Group Stage of the 2010 World Championship and the defeated ones will be in Group I of the geographic regions established by ITF.
