General Stanculescu released from prison

Bucharest Territorial Military Tribunal admitted yesterday the request of Victor Athanasie Stanculescu, 81, to interrupt the 15 year prison sentence to and ordered to be free for one year to solve his health problems, his release being due immediately. The court also set a range of restrictions that Victor Stanculescu must observe, Mediafax informs. Thus, he may not leave Bucharest and Ilfov County without the approval of the court. He must go, whenever he is called, to the police under whose jurisdiction he has his domicile, and may not carry any weapon.

Bucharest Military Territorial Tribunal sent copies after this decision to Bucharest Police, Gendarmerie, Border Police and Community Police of Sector 1. Stanculescu got out from Jilava prison last evening.

A copy of this decision will be also sent to Jilava Penitentiary where he is in custody, in order to be enforced. The decision can be attacked with recourse within 10 days with the Military Court of Appeal.
