The coalition ‘Stop the Codes’: Basescu is liable to 5 years in prison

The coalition “Stop the Codes!” accuses the head of State that, according to the new draft of the criminal Code, he runs the risk of receiving a punishment of 5 years in prison for instigation and communication of false information, because he lobbies for the promotion of the codes although he knows that “the citizen was disregarded and ignored when the projects of the codes were drafted.” Alongside the President, the ONG accuses also the PDL Senator Iulian Urban of having communicated on his personal blog that “the civil society has been allegedly consulted over the provisions of the project of the Civil Code.” “The two are guilty of dissemination of false information likely to endanger the rule of law If the codes are voted, both the citizen Basescu and the citizen Urban may be liable to a punishment of up to five years for the above-mentioned deeds,” reads a press release issued yesterday.
