“George Enescu” symphonic orchestra in Japan

The symphonic orchestra of “George Enescu” Philharmonic goes during May 20-June 4 on an extraordinary tour to Japan, Cristina Bohaciu Sarbu, head of Musical Secretariat, Publicity, Marke­ting Office of the Philhar­monic, reported on Mon­day. The tour will take place in the cities of Matsu­moto (Bunka Kaikan hall, May 24), Sendai (May 26), Natoricity (May 28), Yoko­hama (May 30), Tokorazawa (May 31), Tokyo (June 2 at Suntory Hall, and June 3 at the Opera City).

The Romanian musicians will be conducted by Cristian Mandeal, general manager of the Philharmonic from Bucharest, Ion Marin, and the Japanese conductor Tomomi Nisimoto, soloists being the pianist Fuyjko Hemming, the soprano Sumi Jo and the baritone Dmitri Hvorosrovsky.

Some of the pieces of the rich repertory prepared for the seven concerts are Hecatomb by Dan Dediu, Romanian Dances by Bartok, Symphony no. 5 by Tchaikovsly, Classical Symphony by Prokofiev, Symphony no. 1 by Brahms, Concerto no. 5 in E flat major “The Imperial” by Beethoven, famous arias and duos from operas. The Romanian musicians are for the third time guests of Japan, after the successful tours of 1993 and 2002.
