Nastase, targeted again by the Prosecutor’s Office in Zambaccian case

The General Prosecutor’s Office sent a letter to the Standing Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies through which it requests the latter to review Zambaccian 1 file, in which the PSD Deputy Adrian Nastase is involved, in compliance with the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the regulations of the Chamber. The letter, signed by the prosecutor general of Romania, Laura Codruta Kovesi, brings up again the file in which the Social Democrat MP is charged with bribe taking, influence peddling, improper participation to material forgery in writings under private signature. Kovesi requests Parliament to analyze again Zambaccian 1 file, as a result of the Constitutional Court decision regarding the regulations of the Chamber. According to this resolution, the assent for criminal pursuit is issued by the Chamber only with the vote of the majority of the present MPs, not of all the existing MPs. The Standing Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies decided yesterday to postpone the decision regarding the request of the general prosecutor. The secretary of the Chamber of Deputies, Sever Voinescu (PDL), declared that the Speaker of the Chamber, Roberta Anastase, proposed to send the request of the prosecutor general for analysis to the legal Commission of the Chamber, while other Deputies estimated that the document should be discussed also by other commissions like that on regulations. The Standing Bureau is going to discuss on Wednesday the request of the prosecutor general, when it will make a decision, Voinescu said.
