The Speaker of the Senate of Romania, Mircea Geoana, received on Monday the Speaker of the Senate of Canada, Noel Kinsella, with whom he discussed both the issues connected with labour migration at world level, and the Romanian-Canadian bilateral relations, Agerpres informs. Mircea Geoana appreciated the evolution of the relations between Romanian and Canada. “Our relations have a very good development potential in the current context where there is a risk of confusion of the West in regard to the East, in this period of crisis. We should diversify our economic agenda in the common points, in a much more ambitious way,” Geoana states.
Mr. Noel Kinsella spoke about the importance of the phenomenon of labour mobility for the development of the world economy. “We envy the mobility of labour in the European Union,” he declared, stressing the importance of the “two-way” migration. In connection with the visas, both parties pledged to accelerate the visa waiver process, and also to sign an agreement regarding social insurance. Noel Kinsella met yesterday also with the Patriarch of Romania, PF Daniel, with whom he discussed about the 22 Romanian Orthodox Parishes from Canada.
