Radu Muntean, director of the month at MTR

Radu Muntean will be director of the month May at the New Cinema of the Romanian Director, hosted by the Romanian Peasant’s Museum, offering a selection of films that won the awards of the 2005 – 2008 editions of the Cannes Film Festival, including an outstanding production by the Dardenne brothers and his latest film “Boogie”, selected at Quinzaine des Realisateurs (Cannes 2008).

“Lorna’s Silence” (Best Screenplay, Cannes 2008) and “The Child” (Palme d’Or, Cannes 2005), two Belgian productions directed by the Dardenne brothers, are some of the films proposed by Radu Muntean for Thursday evening at 19.00. Beside “Boogie,” a film broadcasted in the presence of the director, there will be six more films presented at the Romanian Peasant’s Museum: “Persepolis” (produced in France, winner of the The Prize of the Jury at Cannes 2007) directed by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, “The Three Monkeys” (produced in Turkey, winner of the Best Director Award at Cannes 2007), directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, “12.08 East of Bucharest” (Romania, winner of the Camera d’Or Award at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival), directed by Corneliu Porumboiu, “Entre les Murs” (France, Palme d’Or, Cannes 2008) by Laurent Cantet, “Gomorra” (Italy, The Grand Prize of Cannes 2008), by Matteo Garrone and “Mr. Lazarescu’s Death” by Cristi Puiu, winner of the Un Certain Regard section of Cannes 2005.
