The anti-crisis measures were discussed yesterday again by the representatives of the unions and those of the Labour Ministry and Finance Ministry. The increase of the minimum salary and the creation of new jobs were the main claims of the major unionist confederations. “We would like the present Government to assume the ratio between the minimum salary and the purchasing power,” said Bogdan Hossu, leader Cartel Alfa, at the end of the discussions, quoted by Antena3. He added that the unions also prepare a warning strike. The unionists request to increase this year the minimum salary from RON 600 to 800. It is only in this way that the purchasing power will be maintained in Romania, in the conditions in which the prices have risen this year. Moreover, the unions say that also the small salaries, which were frozen according to the governmental decision, should be increased. The creation of new jobs is another demand after the unemployment rate was 5.7 per cent in April, almost the double of the same period in the past year. Labour minister Marian Sarbu declared that he would make “an analysis of what happened in the social dialogue in the five months of the year” and wants to learn the opinions of the representatives of the unionist confederations and owners’ associations regarding the way in which the social dialogue ran. Aspects connected with the package of laws regarding the law of the unions, the employers association and the Economic and Social Council were also analyzed during the meeting.
