European affairs: Romanian-German co-operation

‘The removal of the Co-operation and Verification Mechanism will have to be the consequence of a positive evolution of justice reforms’ – was a statement made during the meeting Romanian Minister for European Affairs Vasile Puscas had with German Ambassador Rolf Mafael, in charge with EU member states relations at the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, yesterday. Puscas said he wanted ‘the rule of law to work in Romania. There has to be effective justice in this country not only for Romanians, but also for European citizens’. The Romanian minister invited the German partner to help identify best practice in spending European funds and enforcing European policies at a central and local level. The parties agreed to step up Romanian-German co-operation in the area of European affairs.
