Romania shall supply Gazprom technical data for the construction of the South Stream pipe and it intends to cooperate with the Russian group in projects addressing construction of gas running plants to produce electric energy.
Ecnomy Minister, Adriean Videanu, and representatives of companies in the field, who accompanied him in the two – day official visit to Moscow, had a meeting this Thursday with Gazprom board.
“Minister Videanu presented Gazprom the cooperation opportunities in relation to projects addressing the construction of gas running plants for the production of electric energy. During the meeting, the representatives of Gazprom asked Romania’s support in the supply of technical data in relation to the construction of South Stream pipe”, according to a press release from Ministry of Economy.
Economy Minister, Adriean Videanu, said, for Mediafax, that the measure did not have the significance of an invitation for Romania to join the project. “Regarding the political dimension of the project, we cannot state an opinion, because there has been no official invitation conveyed to us”, Videanu said.
Another topic approached was the resumption of the cooperation in constructing the gas storing capacity Roman – Margineni. Romgaz representatives presented a memorandum draft addressing this cooperation, remaining for the Russian part to analyze it, based on the source cited. Romania could import natural gas directly from Russia after the construction of the capacity in Margineni, Gazprom group being directly interested in the project, for which there is the political commitment for participation from the Russian State, as Adriean Videanu, Economy Minister said.
On the other side, newspaper “Ziua” writes, in its Saturday issue, that the CEO of the Russian gas concern, Alexei Miller did not have any intention to “waste time” with the Romanian Minister and he had his deputy, Alexander Medvedev participating in the meeting (who is also general manager at Gazexport, “the branch” responsible for Gazprom sales abroad).
