Traian Basescu leaves Romania today for a two-day state visit in the Greece, at the invitation of his counterpart Karolos Papoulias. The President’s agenda will include, beside meetings of Athens officials, a visit to the Mount Athos. According to a press release issued by the Presidency, the agenda of the visit includes official talks between the two heads of state, as well as meetings with PM Constantinos Karamanlis, and the President of the Parliament, Dimitris Sioufas.
Basescu will attend an economical forum, organized by the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry and will meet members of the Romanian community in Greece. Tomorrow, the President will travel to Mount Athos, where he will have meetings with the members of the Kinotita – the governing institution of Mount Athos, including representatives of 20 monasteries, and the representatives of the two Romanian abbeys, the Saint John The Baptist Abbey and the Saint Demetrius-Lacu, the Presidency announced.
