Three men that were working on a fodder storage site in Crevedia commune, Dambovita County, fell from the scaffolding yesterday morning. Two of them were taken to a hospital in Bucharest with serious injuries, Agerpres informs. The men were seriously wounded after one of them fell on a concrete platform and the other in a well. The three men, employees of a Bacau-based company, were working on scaffoldings at a height of approximately 14 meters. At one point, for unknown reasons, two of them fell while the third managed to cling to the scaffoldings just in time. The two seriously injured men were urgently taken to the Floreasca Hospital in Bucharest. One of the victims is in a more serious condition, considering that he fell from the scaffoldings in a three-meter deep hole. The representatives of the prosecutor’s office from within the Racari Tribunal and those of the Territorial Labor Inspectorate arrived at the site. According to the Labor Inspectorate’s statistics, 385 people have been involved in work accidents in the first two months of 2009. 29 of them lost their lives. Three collective work accidents took place in January, killing 2 and injuring 10. A single collective work accident took place in February, injuring 3. The same statistic shows that close to 4,600 persons were injured in work accidents in 2008. 331 of them lost their lives.
