Ludovic Orban: Basescu deliberately discredits his own party

Liberals launch new attacks against President Traian Basescu. So does the PNL Prime-Vice-President Ludovic Orban, who had declared yesterday at Targu Mures that Traian Basescu “deliberately discredits his own party” in order to make sure he would be reelected as President. The PNL Prime-Vice-President added that it was a deliberate act by Traian Basescu who wants to win another mandate and therefore, is ready to “sacrifice” the Boc Government and to encourage Geoana’s party, including Geoana himself, so that he would run in the second voting round, Mediafax announces.

Moreover, Orban announced that he would run for the PNL leadership as the position would remain vacant after Crin Antonescu’s election as President of Romania. He denied rumours regarding his alleged divergence with Crin Antonescu, outlining that he was the one who supported Antonescu during the latter’s candidacy for the leadership of PNL, as well as for his candidacy to the Presidency, due to his belief that “Antonescu was the most appropriate.”

Also yesterday, PNL Vice-President Norica Nicolai, a candidate for the European Elections, declared that President Basescu was torturing his daughter Elena in order to see how much his name is worth in Romania nowadays. As for Elena Basescu’s campaign, Nicolai had ironically declared a day before that it was probably supported by her sister, Ioana, from her “previous sales.” A day before, Norica Nicolai once again attacked the President by stating that the concern for the borders’ fortification and the recovery of Traian Basescu’s “failures” in the relation with the Republic of Moldova will be among the priorities of Liberals in the EP.
