EUR 6 M non refundable funds for the construction of a segment at Brasov surrounding ring

The construction of a surrounding ring for Brasov shall have non refundable funds worth EUR 6 M, on the basis of a contract signed yesterday, according to Mediafax correspondent. The contract addressing the non refundable co financing was signed by State Secretary in the Ministry of Regional Development and Housing, Razvan Murgeanu, director general of the Regional Development Agency Center, Simion Cretu, and the Mayor of Brasov municipal, George Scripcaru. The funds shall be used for the second segment of the ring, which connects DN 11 (exit from Brasov to Harman) and DN 13 (exit from Brasov to Sighisoara), with a total length of 6.5 km. The works will be financed with EUR 9 M from the local budget. In addition, the municipality shall also pay the non eligible expenditures, including expropriations, and thus, total costs will amount to EUR 21 M. “The funding for the second segment means that we are coming closer to an older dream of 35 years, so that Brasov shall have a surrounding ring, and heavy traffic not to burden the transit of the city,” George Scripcaru said on Sunday. He added that talks are in progress during this time with Ministry of Transports for funding the third segment of the surrounding ring, which connects DN 13 to DN 1, in the area of the interior land between Brasov and Ghimbav.
