Seven injured as train hits truck in Timis County

Seven persons were injured yesterday morning in Timis County after a train collided with a truck. According to a spokesperson of the Banat Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU), Sindia Vaia, only one person was carried to the County Hospital, respectively the truck driver, and all the other injured were carried to the Municipal Hospital of Timisoara. “Only one person was severely injured and required hospitalization at the County Hospital. The rest of the injured were carried to the Municipal Hospital, at the request of the County Hospital Emergency Room staff,” Vaia declared, outlining that the five passengers of the train suffered light injuries.

The ISU Banat representative mentioned that 25 passengers were traveling by the train involved in the accident, according to Mediafax.

After the accident, the Timisoara – Periam railway was blocked for several hours. According to the spokesperson of the Timis County Police Department, Sergiu Rus, the accident occurred at approximately 6.00 AM, at a passage, as the truck was following an industrial road that was not opened for public traffic.

“A truck registered in Valcea collided with a train of two carriages, for commuters, due to the carelessness of the truck driver,” the spokesperson of the Police Department declared.
