HCM Constanta at risk of not playing CL games at home

HCM Constanta, the club that has won the men’s handball championship, is at risk of not being able to play in Constanta its home-side games within the Champion League’s 2009-2010 season because the Sports Hall does not live up to the International Federation’s homologation criteria. ‘The Champions League rules are a bit different compared to rules of the other competitions. By June 9 we have to inform them about the location where we could host these games. This time it seems that they are unwilling to give us a pass like they did in recent years so unfortunately there are significant chances that we would not be able to play in front of our fans. The club leadership will analyze this delicate problem in the following days. I would not choose a different city.

This is Constanta’s team and the people of Constanta deserve to see their favorite players at work. It wouldn’t be fair to deprive them of the right to watch our games against top-level teams from Europe after they suffered side by side with us throughout the season in order for us to win the championship,’ Nurhan Ali, the executive director of the club, stated.
