Heavy rain, hail yesterday

Heavy rain and even hail were expected yesterday in several areas of Transylvania, Muntenia and Moldavia. Rain also fell in the capital and temperatures dropped to about 25 degrees, but the weather is expected to improve as of today. Temperature highs were not likely to exceed 26 degrees in most of the country, according to meteorologists quoted by Realitatea TV.

Also yesterday, a powerful storm rocked parts of Timis county, uprooting dozens of trees and cutting electricity lines. In less than five minutes, the strong storm also tore several roofs. A man died from a heart attack after watching the strong wind tearing down his house’s roof, Realitatea TV said.

This week, the weather is expected to remain warm all around the country but temperature highs are not likely to go above 34 degrees. The entire month of June will consist of alternations between hot days and rainy days with storms and strong wind. Next month, temperatures will rise to 40 degrees Celsius and little rain is expected.
