The general manager of The Rompetrol Group, Dinu Patriciu, denied the information published by a central newspaper, based on which he may have sold his participation of 25 per cent owned in the Rompetrol Group, towards the Kazakh company KazMunaiGaz, according to “Adevarul”. “This is a media rumor which cannot be confirmed”, Patriciu says. He said that he has not made the decision to sell the participation, although he has this right. Asked what might be the cause of such rumors, Patriciu said that it was related to the effects of the economic crisis. “There are various rumors in the market. And so are within the company. These are effects of the crisis, the people show unrest”, the official from Rompetrol added.
KazMunaiGaz bought 75 per cent of The Rompetrol Group in 2007.
