Court says Becali can not leave Romania

The District 1 Court of Bucharest decided yesterday that the MEP to be Gigi Becali, would not be granted permission to leave Romania. Therefore, he cannot attend the ceremony of investiture in the position of MEP, in Brussels. The judges’ decision is not final, and can be challenged. Becali’s lawyer Cristian Dancu mentioned, as quoted by Realitatea TV, that the ban to leave Bucharest and Ilfov County is still in effect. Last week, Becali submitted a request that all measures imposed by the Court would be stopped, after having withdrawn a similar request at the end of the previous month.

PRM leader, Vadim Tudor expressed his solidarity with Gigi Becali, saying he will not leave to Brussels if the decision stays final.

Yesterday, while in front of the Court Becali said that the criminal investigation against him is Romania’s biggest joke in the last 60 years. “What do you want, jeer with Becali for the next 200 years?” he exclaimed.
