The Romanian Rugby Federation and BRD-Groupe Societe Generale have signed on Wednesday a sponsorship contract worth RON 300,000. The bank will support Bucharest in hosting the IRB Nations Cup 2009 tournament (June 12-21).

Patrik Gelin, president director-general of BRD, attended the press conference that marked the official launching of the IRB Nations Cup and wished good luck to the Romanian national rugby team and a year full of success for the Federation.

‘I am pleased to confirm that despite the crisis and budget restrictions BRD will continue to support the Romanian Rugby Federation this year too. I am glad that Romania is the host of the IRB Nations Cup for the third consecutive year. It is proof of the importance that the International Rugby Federation gives to this country, an importance that stems from the honourable results of the national team and from the Romanian Rugby Federation’s professionalism. I wish the national team good luck and hope that 2009 will be a new year of progress,’ Patrick Gelin stated.
