The last conference of present TNB season to take place this Sunday

Philologist Ilina Gregori will be the protagonist of the last conference of the present TNB season, entitled “Which was the Nineteenth Century? Eminescu or Modernism?” on Sunday, June 14, starting at 11.00, on the stage of the Workshop Hall of the National Theatre of Bucharest (TNB).

“What did modernism mean in the second half of the nineteenth century? How did the elite of Iasi perceive “modernism”? How was it perceived in Vienna or Berlin? Which of these contemporary interconnected and yet desynchronized environments did decisively influence Eminescu’s theoretic, aesthetic and existential-affective relation with modernism? We suggest a few topics on this direction, stirred by the time spent by Eminescu in Berlin,” Ilina Gregori declared about the starting point of the conference. TNB re-launched the concept of matinee conferences in March 2006. Personalities of the Romanian society, such as Neagu Djuvara, Gabriel Liiceanu, Theodor Paleologu, Mircea Dinescu, Octavian Paler, Nicolae Manolescu, Andrei Plesu, Cristian Tudor Popescu, Lucia Hossu Longin, Ana Blandiana, Ion Caramitru or Radu Beligan held some of these conferences on the stage of TNB.
