Leader of powerful Colombian drug cartel, arrested in Romania

The leader of a powerful Colombian drug trafficking cartel was arrested in Romania by the Romanian authorities in collaboration with American ones, while planning the acquisition of a plane that might have been used for the transportation of cocaine from South America to the United States of America.

According to a press release issued by the Romanian Police Department on Friday, the officers of the Anti-Drug Service, in collaboration with employees of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), found and arrested Jesus Eduardo V. A., Colombian and Mexican citizen, aged 49, born in Bogotá, Colombia, on June 10, in Bucharest, while discussing the details of the plane acquisition, for the transportation of cocaine. An international mandate of preventive arrest was issued on the name of the man on April 6, by the Magistrate of the District Court of New York, for conspiracy, drug possession and distribution. The Romanian Police Department shows that, after Jesus Eduardo V. A was escorted to the Police residence for the necessary procedure the Court of Bucharest issued an arrest resolution for 24 hours. He was kept in the central jail of the General Police Department of Bucharest. Afterwards, the Appeal Court of Bucharest issued a preventive arrest mandate of 29 days on his name, subsequently starting the procedure of rendition to the USA.
