CEZ, AES and Edison preselected for construction energy group at Isalnita

CEZ, AES and Edison are planning to associate with Complexul Energetic Craiova for the construction of a new power generation group within the Isalnita power station, Mediafax informs. The three companies are pre-qualified, but the formal announcement is expected this week.

‘The assessment we have conducted shows that all there companies meet our requirements’ Complexul energetic Craiova General Manager Constantin Balasoiu stated at the Eurelectric conference on Monday. He added the investment could be over EUR 650 M.

In April, Complexul Energetic (CEN) Craiova announced it was looking for associates in a joint venture to develop a new 500 Mw power group at the Isalnita station, having almost half of the installed output of the company. The new company will have a majority private ownership and will operate as an independent energy producer, while CEN Craiova will participate with contributions in kind – the assets of its Isalnita subsidiary.

The company is planning to invest EUR 600-700 M from 2010 through to 2016 in enlarging the company’s output, in partnership with other companies. CEN Craiova intends to build an energy group of about 500 MW at Isalnita, Dolj County, and one of 150-200 MW at its Craiova subsidiary.

Complexul Energetic Craiova expects RON 1.15 bn (EUR 298.3 M) in 2009, 10 per cent above the forecast RON 1.04 bn (EUR 271.1 M).
