Copos announces retirement from Rapid

In an article published on Wednesday on his personal blog, George Copos, FC Rapid’s majority shareholder, considers himself the hardest-hit person in League I. In the article he also announces that he will step down from the club. Copos considers that in the recently ended season the club’s leadership and players have shown ‘amateurism,’ a fact that is now costing the club. Copos criticized the poor player management, explaining that costly but uninspired transfers were done while Rapid’s players were sold in disadvantageous conditions. Copos claims that the club was unnecessarily burdened with all kinds of offices whose presence was not necessary or justified.

In his opinion, not knowing how to motivate the players capable of achievements has led to the failure to qualify for Europa League, “a failure equivalent to losing another 4 million EUR.”
