Steaua to play against Ujpest FC in Europa League’s second preliminary round

The team coached by Cristiano Bergodi will play against Hungary’s FC Ujpest in the second preliminary round of the Europa League. The draws took place yesterday in Nyon.

Steaua will play first at home on July 16, with the away leg set to follow on July 23. If it wins the fixture Steaua will then play in the competition’s third preliminary round, with the draw for that round scheduled on July 17.

After finding out the result of the draw, Steaua owner Gigi Becali stated on Monday that he is not nervous because he has never heard of the Hungarian club. ‘We’re not very nervous. Hungary is below Romania’s football level. I have never heard of this club in my life. They’re not even champions,’ Gigi Becali stated.

Steaua will prepare for its first round European Cup games by taking part in a training tournament in Austria. The tournament is scheduled from June 25 to July 8. Steaua will play 4 friendly games in Klagenfurt against ND Gorica (July 1, 6.30 PM), Bohemians Prague (July 3, 6.30 PM), Dinamo Zagreb (July 5, 6.30 PM) and TSKA Sofia (July 7, 6.30 PM).
