Unirea Urziceni unable to play its League games in Klagenfurt

In a communiqué remitted to ‘Evenimentul Zilei’ daily the European body announced that it will not allow Unirea Urziceni to play its Champions League games in Austria’s Klagenfurt.

According to the information published on Tuesday by ‘Evenimentul Zilei’ daily, Unirea Urziceni had filed an official letter to the Romanian Football Federation, asking for the permission to play its Champions League group games in Austria’s Klagenfurt.

‘The UEFA regulations provision that the European Cup games can be played either on the host-team’s stadium or on another stadium in the same city or on the country’s territory. According to that rule, any demand filed by the Romanian club to play its Champions League games in another country will be refused! The only situations in which UEFA allows exceptions to that rule have to do with security reasons or are a consequence of disciplinary measures,’ the European body wrote in its official answer remitted to ‘Evenimentul Zilei’ daily.
