Romanian Water polo Cup to bring German, Russian and Hungarian teams to Bucharest

Bucharest’s Dinamo pool will host from June 26 to June 28 the ‘Romania’s Cup’ international water polo tournament, a useful test for the Romanian players in view of the Swimming World Cup in Rome (July 18 – August 2, 2009).

The traditional competition included in the LEN calendar used to be called the Romtelecom or Romcarton Cup. Because this tournament lacks a sponsor the Romanian Water polo Federation called the competition the ‘Romania’s Cup.’ Germany, Russia and Hungary, multiple world and Olympic champions and the winners of medals at the most important international competitions, will take part in the tournament. Day 1 (Friday, June 26) will see the Hungary play against Germany (1.45 PM) and Romania against Russia (3.20 PM).

The Russia vs. Germany (4.35 PM) and Romania vs. Hungary (6.15 PM) games are scheduled on Saturday, June 27. Hungary vs. Russia (noontime) and Germany vs. Romania (1.15 PM) are scheduled on Sunday. Romania’s team consists of: Mihai Dragusin, Dragos Stoenescu, Andrei Busila, Alexandru Ghiban, Tiberiu Negrean, Dimitri Goanta, Kalman Kadar, Nicolae Diaconu, Cosmin Radu, Ramiro Georgescu, Edward Andrei, Alexandru Matei, Andrei Cretu, Andrei Iosep and Pavel Popescu.
