11 police officers investigated for bribery in Constanta, arrested

14 persons, out of whom 11 police officers from Constanta Road Police Service received this Friday the warrants for preventive detention over 29 days. According to the prosecutors, cited by Agerpres, after the hearings on Thursday, which lasted more than 12 hours, eleven of the 39 police officers investigated were detained for 24 hours, and other three civilians, out of the four investigated in the file, adding to them. The police officers investigated, most of them aged between 25 and 35, were suspended from offices. The police officers are accused, among others, of giving and taking bribery, influence trafficking, abuse of position. The investigators say that the NCOs were providing various information to defendants in several files, they were canceling minutes of infringements, in exchange for money. Sources close to the investigation, cited by “Romania Libera”, say that the prosecutors found a lead, in Constanta file, following the clues resulted from the records addressing a different file, a robbery in Harsova.
